Permission Descriptions
The permissions below control whether users can perform certain actions within PULSE. Please refer to this information when managing or creating new Roles.
NOTE: Be aware of Zone
The term "Zone" represents different dairy locations. PULSE Zones may be different physical dairy locations (for example, multiple locations across the state or country) or different user-defined locations within a single dairy site (for example, Pens 1-100 are Zone 1, Pens 101-200 are Zone 2, etc.). "write" permissions as you are editing roles. The zone write 
icon is displayed for any permission level that requires zone selections. When you edit a permission level with this icon, you must also select which zones can be edited by users who are granted that permission.

- Billing Management: Allows you to manage the dairy's billing account for the VAS PULSE Platform.
- Dashboard Management: Allows you to create new Dairy Dashboards and customize the widgets displayed on existing ones.
- View: Allows you to view the Dairy Dashboard.
- File Management: Allows you to upload, download, and manage shared files, including the ability to create, edit, delete, and view file history details, in any domain.
- General File Download: Allows you to download and view history details for general shared files not associated with Herd, Feed, and Parlor data.
- General File Upload: Allows you to upload general shared files not associated with Herd, Feed, and Parlor data. Users may delete files they uploaded, but need File Management permission to delete other files.
- Integration Management: Allows you to manage PULSE integration with other applications that send data to or extract data from PULSE (for example, DairyComp for DC Unlimited subscribers, FeedComp, Parlors, and other allowed 3rd‑party software integrations).
- Profile Management: Allows you to edit the dairy profile settings under Dairy Configuration > Dairy Information (dairy description, discoverability, address, etc.).
- User Management: Allows you to invite new users, remove existing users, and manage role and permission settings for other users.

DairyComp/MyDC
- Herd Configuration: Allows you to edit configuration settings, including items, events, commands, breeding codes, reproduction codes, etc.
- Herd File Download: Allows you to download and view history details for Herd shared files.
- Herd File Upload: Allows you to upload Herd shared files. Users may delete files they uploaded, but need File Management permission to delete other files.
- Herd Protocol Management: Allows you to create and edit treatment protocols and prescriptions for animals with illnesses.
- Herd Read: Allows you to view zones, animals, herd integration status, and reports.
- Herd Write: Allows you to enter and update animal details, status, items, events, and testdays. May require Zone permissions as well.

FeedComp Mobile
- Batch Feeding: Allows you to add Batch Feedings in FeedComp.
- Equipment Edit: Allows you to edit Equipment settings in FeedComp
- Feeding Schedules Edit: Allows you to edit Feeding Schedules.
- Ingredient Adjust DM%: Allows you to adjust dry matter % in FeedComp.
- Ingredient Edit: Allows you to edit Ingredients in FeedComp.
- Inventory Access: Allows you to manage Inventory in FeedComp.
- Location Edit: Allows you to edit Locations in FeedComp.
- Mobile App Access: Allows you to download and use FeedComp.
- Pen Counts: Allows you to edit Pen Counts in FeedComp.
- Pen Edit: Allows you to edit Pens in FeedComp.
- Pen Feeding Amounts: Allows you to edit Pen Feeding Amounts in FeedComp.
- Recipe Adjust Ingredient Amounts: Allows you to edit Ingredients Amounts in FeedComp.
- Recipe Edit: Allows you to edit Recipes in FeedComp.
- Recipe Set Alternate Recipe: Allows you to set Alternate Recipes in FeedComp.
- Report Access: Allows you to view Reports in FeedComp.
FeedComp

- Feed Configuration: Allows you to edit recipes A combination of ingredients used to make feed for animals and ingredients, as well as information on feed vendors, equipment/devices, pens, and users.
- Feed File Download: Allows you to download and view history details for Feed shared files.
- Feed File Upload: Allows you to upload Feed shared files. Users may delete files they uploaded, but need File Management permission to delete other files.
- Feed Inventory Write: Allows you to edit Feed inventory data.
- Feed Pen Write: Allows you to edit the feed details for each pen location.
- Feed Read: Allows you to view data, recipes, equipment, devices, and reports.
- Feed Write: Allows you to edit Bunk Scoring, Location DM% Dry Matter Percentage, as well as ingredients, recipes, and alternate recipes.
Parlor
- Parlor Configuration: Allows you to edit Parlor configuration.
- Parlor File Download: Allows you to download and view history details for Parlor shared files.
- Parlor File Upload: Allows you to upload Parlor shared files. User may delete files they uploaded, but needs File Management permission to delete other files.
- Parlor Read: Allows you to view all Parlor data.
- Parlor Write: Allows you to enter and edit Parlor data.
